Bulletin | NECANN Cup Participation | March 1, 2024

To: Licensees (Marijuana Establishments, Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers)
From: Investigations and Enforcement Department
Date: March 1, 2024
Subject: Bulletin – NECANN Cup Participation

This Bulletin applies to all Marijuana Establishments and Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (collectively, “Licensees”).

The Cannabis Control Commission (“Commission”) has been made aware that Licensees intend on participating in the 2024 New England Cannabis Convention (NECANN) Cup, a “multi-state Cannabis Competition, a third-party blind evaluation of cannabis and cannabis products” involving Licensees, Caregivers, and home growers. The Commission understands that the drop-off and intake of Marijuana and Marijuana Products for this competition will take place at an unlicensed establishment on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

This Bulletin serves to remind Licensees of their statutory and regulatory obligations under state Marijuana laws, see G.L. c. 94G, G.L. c. 94I, 935 CMR 500.00 et. al., and 935 CMR 501.000 et. al. such as, minimum standards including, but not limited to, the labeling, storage, security, monitoring and tracking of inventory in Metrc, and transport of Marijuana and Marijuana Products. Further, Licensees have an explicit obligation to track the distribution of Marijuana and Marijuana Products to the Consumer or Patient. Licensees are reminded that they are limited to conducting licensed activities within their Premises. See 935 CMR 500.103(2)(f) and 501.103(2)(f). Violations of state Marijuana law such as, engaging in activity that could be considered diversion, may result in the issuance of fines, suspension, or revocation. See 935 CMR 500.450(3), (13) and 501.450(3), (13).
