New MassCannabisControl.com Offers Visitors Personalized Navigation Experience, Improved Search Functions, and More
WORCESTER—The Cannabis Control Commission (Commission) is pleased to announce it has launched a new and improved website at MassCannabisControl.com, which streamlines existing resources into one platform, offers personalized navigation for individual engagement with agency programs, smarter search functions, and familiar tools including the Commission’s Open Data dashboards, store locator, Municipal Zoning Tracker, and more.
“I’m excited to share the Commission’s new website as it truly reflects our agency’s growth,” Executive Director Shawn Collins said. “The Commission has accomplished so much in just three years—from standing up the region’s first regulated adult-use cannabis industry and opening more than 200 Marijuana Establishments, to transferring the Medical Use of Marijuana Program and expanding it to approximately 100,000 patients. We have redesigned MassCannabisControl.com to meet the diverse needs of our agency’s numerous constituencies and made it more intuitive and comprehensive of the wide array of resources we offer. We hope this new architecture will make it easier for users to engage with the work we do every single day.”
When Massachusetts residents visit the new MassCannabisControl.com, they will be greeted with six individualized journeys based on the way in which constituents interact with the Commission, including those who identify as:
- Patients and Caregivers;
- Applicants and Licensees;
- Adult Consumers;
- Parents;
- State and Local Government; and
- Certifying Healthcare Providers (Providers).
This departure from the site’s former topic-based architecture enables the Commission to better anticipate visitors’ searches for content and place the most frequently requested and relevant resources right at their fingertips, along strategically designed pathways.
Visitors will note that adult-use cannabis industry and Medical Use of Marijuana Program (Program) information is consolidated into one Commission website for the first time. The new MassCannabisControl.com aims to harmonize users’ experience, regardless of whether they consume cannabis or currently interact with the agency, and ensure that Patients, Caregivers, and Providers have clear, reliable access to Program updates and documentation as soon as they need it. Going forward, all web traffic to the previous Mass.gov/MedicalMarijuana will redirect to MassCannabisControl.com.
State and local officials, including law enforcement, who may seek answers about the laws, regulations, and licensing processes governing cannabis in Massachusetts will also find a new landing page on MassCannabisControl.com. The Commission is using the pathway to bring visibility to resources such as equity guidance, frequently asked questions about home cultivation, and the Municipal Zoning Tracker that identifies the adult-use marijuana zoning and bylaws for all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts.
General searches for Commission content will be simplified thanks to the use of enhanced search engine indexing that make the agency’s content-rich public documents discoverable using external platforms. And, new website features incorporated into MassCannabisControl.com’s traditional “Public Resources” page—including “Popular Documents” and “Frequently Viewed Resources” menus—help make locating information more responsive to both new and frequent site users.
Other website enhancements include:
- New identifiers on the website’s “Find a Retailer” locator and Adult-use Licensing Tracker, which highlight those licensees that are Certified Economic Empowerment Applicants, Social Equity Program Participants, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises;
- A new Enforcement Announcements page, for licensees and the public to find the latest bulletins, answers to frequently asked questions, regulatory interpretations, and other notices to ensure the whole industry receives the same information in a timely manner for enhanced public safety and compliance; and
- A dedicated Research page, which offers a repository of the agency’s exhaustive studies into the social, economic, and health impacts of marijuana across the Commonwealth, plus Legislative research reports, original science papers and presentations, and educational projects.
The Commission welcomes feedback from the public regarding the ways in which it can continue to make MassCannabisControl.com better. Suggestions may be submitted online under the MassCannabisControl.com contact page.
