Ten Things Renewing Patients Should Know
Here are 10 things every Patient of the Massachusetts Medical Use of Marijuana Program should know.
1. Renew your Patient status annually.
Your Medical Use of Marijuana Program (Program) registration expires annually on the anniversary of your registration date.
2. Renew your registration online.
You can renew your registration up to 60 days before it expires.
Unable to renew online? Contact us at (833) 869-6820 and select prompt 1, to have a paper renewal form mailed to you.
3. You must hold an active Patient certification.
You must hold an active Patient certification from your Certifying Health Care Provider before you can renew your registration. Check your certification status by accessing your Medical Use of Marijuana Online System (Online System) account or calling (833) 869-6820 prompt 1.
4. Certification expired? Get recertified.
If your certification has expired, you must call a Certifying Health Care Provider to get re-certified as a Patient. There will be a fee for this visit determined by the Health Care Provider.
5. Keep your account information up to date.
Have your name, address, or other contact details changed? Please update your account in the Online System within five days of any change.
6. Know your username and password.
To reset your username or password, go to the Online System and choose the fourth option down, I am an existing patient and I would like to login to the medical use of marijuana online system. Select “forgot username” (sometimes it changes) or “forgot password” to reset it.
7. Keep your Personal Caregiver information up to date.
Need to update Personal Caregiver information? You can do it in the Online System.
8. There is no fee to register.
There is no longer a fee to register for a Program registration card through the Cannabis Control Commission. Certifying Health Care Providers may charge Patients a fee for annual certification visits.
9. Carry your registration card.
You must carry your registration card whenever you are in possession of marijuana for medical use.
10. Patients may possess up to the full allotment.
The maximum amount of medical marijuana a Patient may possess is a 60-day supply or no more than 10 ounces even if your 60-day allotment is greater than 10 ounces.
