Patients, Caregivers, and Consumers May Now Use Massachusetts Commission for the Blind Identification Card to purchase Medical and Adult-use Marijuana
The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (Commission) and its Medical Use of Marijuana Program now recognize identification (ID) cards issued by Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) as valid government ID.
MCB issues a state ID called the MCB ID card which certifies the holder is legally blind and registered with the agency. It exhibits the holder’s photo, their MCB Registration number, name, address, date of birth, height, expiration date, and signature. This ID card meets all government ID requirements under the Commission’s regulations.
An MCB ID Card may be used to prove identity and age when entering a Medical Marijuana Treatment Center or Marijuana Establishment across the Commonwealth and purchasing marijuana for medical or adult use. It may also be used as a form of identification when registering as a Patient or a Caregiver with the state’s Medical Use of Marijuana Program.
To register as a Patient with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program, an individual must be a resident of Massachusetts and submit valid government ID at the time of registration.
To learn more about registering as a Patient or Caregiver with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program, visit the Commission’s Patient and Caregivers webpage on MassCannabisControl.com. Residents with additional questions should call (833)-869-6820 between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. from Monday through Friday, or email Commission@CCCMass.com.
