The Commission has currently designated 30 communities in Massachusetts as “Disproportionately Impacted Areas” (DIAs) – geographic areas that have been disproportionately harmed by marijuana prohibition and enforcement.
Learn more about which communities in Massachusetts are designated as DIAs and their corresponding 400% Area Media Income (AMI) limit to qualify for the SEP in our SEP Frequently Asked Questions.
You can also search an address to determine if it is designated as a DIAs. Instructions for searching an address can be found in this guidance document.
Positive Impact Plans and Diversity Plans
As part of the Commission’s mandate, every applicant applying for any Marijuana Establishment license is required to submit a plan for how it will positively impact DIAs. The Commission also requires applicants to outline a Diversity Plan that promotes equity among minorities, women, veterans, people with disabilities, and people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.
