To: Licensees (Marijuana Establishments, Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers)
From: Investigations and Enforcement Department
Date: May 31, 2024
Subject: Bulletin – 2024 Flower Expo Participation

This Bulletin applies to all Marijuana Establishments and Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (collectively, “Licensees”).

The Cannabis Control Commission (“Commission”) is aware that Licensees will participate in the 2024 Flower Expo on June 5, 2024, and June 6, 2024, at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.

This Bulletin serves to remind Licensees participating in this event of their statutory and regulatory obligations under state Marijuana law. See G.L. c. 94G, G.L. c. 94I, 935 CMR 500.00 et. al., and 935 CMR 501.000 et. al. Licensees must remember to abide by certain minimum standards including, but not limited to, the labeling, storage, security, monitoring and tracking of inventory in Metrc, and transport of Marijuana and Marijuana Products.

Licensees are reminded that they are limited to conducting licensed activities within their Premises. See 935 CMR 500.103(2)(f) and 501.103(2)(f). Licensees are also reminded that Marijuana and Marijuana Products may only be displayed in secure, locked cases at the Marijuana Establishment and/or Medical Marijuana Treatment Center. Additionally, Marijuana Establishments, including through their registered Agents, are prohibited from advertising and marketing through certain promotional items including gifts, giveaways, coupons, and “free” or “donated” marijuana, such as samples. See 935 CMR 500.105(4)(b)20.; see also M.G.L. c. 94G, § 4(a½)(xxix). Violations of state Marijuana law such as, engaging in activity that could be considered diversion, may result in enforcement action, which could include the issuance of fines, suspension, or revocation. See 935 CMR 500.450(3), (13) and 501.450(3), (13).
